SHENZHEN-BASEDtelecommunicationsequipment maker Huawei plans to create 5,500 jobs in Europewithin five years asthe company expands its services in the region, ChinaDaily said Saturday.
Huawei, theworld’ssecond largest maker of telecom equipment, is to offer informationtechnologysolutions to European businesses, Patrick Zhang, president ofmarketing andsolutions at Huawei Enterprise Business Group, told the newspaper.
The businessisexpected to generate turnover of US$1 billion in the next three to fiveyears,he added.
The companyislaunching its expansion despite the European Commission’s allegationsof“anti-competitive behavior” by Huawei and its cross-town rival ZTE.
Zhang saidEuropeoffered more growth potential than the
“Our expansionprogress in Europe isdifferent from that in the United States, where we haveencountered accessdifficulties due to some groundless reasons given by theAmerican side,” Zhangsaid.
Huaweirepresentativessaid last week that the company expected to have its revenuesexpand by 10percent annually over the next five years, thanks largely toconsumer devicesand enterprise services.
